Travel Warnings Due to Continuous Rain in Delhi

In the national capital, persistent rainfall has led to significant waterlogging, prompting various airlines, including Indigo, SpiceJet, and Air India, to issue travel advisories for passengers flying to other cities from Delhi. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Delhi-NCR region over the next three hours. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius. The humidity level was recorded at 97 percent as of 8:30 AM, with 19 millimeters of rain falling in the last 24 hours.

SpiceJet's Advisory for Passengers

SpiceJet has advised its passengers to check the status of their flights and to allow extra time for reaching the airport due to traffic congestion caused by the weather. In a statement on X, SpiceJet noted, "Due to adverse weather conditions in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and related flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to monitor their flight status closely."

IndiGo's Travel Advisory

IndiGo has also issued a statement indicating that heavy rain and thunderstorms in Delhi may lead to delays in flights arriving and departing from the airport. They emphasized their commitment to ensuring smooth travel on the ground, urging passengers to check their flight status and consider allowing extra time to reach the airport. "While we cannot control the weather, we are doing everything possible to assist you," they stated.

Air India's Advisory for Travelers

Air India has similarly advised travelers to verify their flight timings, as operations may be impacted by the rain. In a post on X, the airline stated, "Today's operations for flights arriving and departing from Delhi may be affected due to rain. We recommend checking your flight status at https://airindia.com/in/en/manage/flight-status.html before heading out and allowing extra time to reach the airport."

Delhi Airport's Advisory

In addition to the airlines, Delhi Airport has also issued a notice indicating that flight operations may be disrupted due to heavy rainfall. The ground staff is working diligently to ensure smooth operations.

IMD Forecasts More Rain

The IMD has predicted further rainfall in the city on Thursday. Notably, several areas in Delhi experienced heavy rain on Wednesday, with more expected today. The weather department has issued green and yellow alerts for various regions.

Temperature Update for Delhi

On Wednesday, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 22.8 degrees Celsius, which is 2.8 degrees below normal. The IMD forecasts moderate rainfall. As of 8:30 AM, the relative humidity was at 97 percent. The primary weather station in Safdarjung recorded 19.8 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, while other areas reported varying amounts: 9.1 mm in Palam, 11.4 mm in Lodhi Road, 28.2 mm in Ridge, and 5.7 mm in Ayanagar.

Air Quality Index in Delhi

According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius. At 9 AM, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 52, indicating 'satisfactory' air quality. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) categorizes AQI levels as follows: 0-50 is 'good', 51-100 is 'satisfactory', 101-200 is 'moderate', 201-300 is 'poor', 301-400 is 'very poor', and 401-500 is 'severe'.
