Los Angeles, September 3: A tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota's largest city, resulted in the deaths of two individuals, with the suspect also deceased, as reported by local news outlet KSTP.

The suspect reportedly took their own life, while six others, including three police officers, sustained injuries during the incident that unfolded on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a post from the City of Minneapolis on X, police were alerted to the shooting around 4:36 p.m. local time (2136 GMT).

Upon arriving at a high-rise apartment complex, officers encountered victims and heard further gunfire. They traced the sound to an upper level of the building, as detailed by Xinhua news agency citing KSTP.

Visibility was severely compromised on that floor due to smoke or haze, leading to injuries for three officers, two of whom were shot, the post indicated.

Local station KARE reported that the shooting originated from a domestic dispute involving the shooter and one of the victims. The shooter fired at the responding officers before retreating into an apartment.

Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind this tragic event.

This incident follows another shooting in the United States just days earlier.

On August 29, a police officer was killed and another injured during a shooting at a park in Columbia, South Carolina, as confirmed by local police.

Columbia Police Chief W.H. "Skip" Holbrook stated that the suspect also died in that incident.

The shooting occurred at Southeast Park on Hazelwood Road while officers were responding to a reported domestic dispute, Holbrook explained during a press briefing.

Earlier, on August 15, a shooting at a park in Lexington, Kentucky, resulted in one fatality and four injuries.
