The Montreal police have confirmed the identity of the officer who lost his life in a shooting incident in the Côte-des-Neiges area on Monday. Constable Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, aged 34, was recognized by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) as a dedicated member of the force since 2021. The SPVM expressed their deep sorrow over his passing, labeling it a significant loss for the department. In a statement on their website, they noted, "He died while fulfilling his duty to protect the community." They further emphasized that his commitment and professionalism would be remembered fondly.

In honor of Constable Benredouane, flags at SPVM facilities have been lowered to half-mast, with the department stating, "Fallen, but never forgotten."
