New Delhi, July 27: A tragic shooting occurred on Sunday evening at Seattle Center during the Bite of Seattle food festival, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to five others, according to local authorities.
The Seattle Fire Department confirmed that two victims were declared dead at the scene. Among the injured were a two-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man, and two adult women, all of whom were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
A 40-year-old woman sustained minor injuries and opted not to go to the hospital after receiving care at the scene.
At Harborview Medical Center, one woman was reported to be in critical condition and undergoing surgery, while the other patients were said to be in stable condition.
Emergency responders and police arrived promptly after the shooting, leading to the evacuation of the area. Authorities have advised the public to steer clear of Seattle Center as the investigation is ongoing.
Seattle Center is known for its cultural and entertainment offerings, including the Climate Pledge Arena and the iconic Space Needle.
At the time of the incident, the venue was hosting the Bite of Seattle, a cherished food festival that has been a staple in the city for many years, as reported by a local media outlet.
Witnesses at the festival recounted hearing approximately 7-8 gunshots, which caused widespread panic as attendees fled the area.
As of now, police have not disclosed any information regarding potential suspects or motives behind the shooting.

This incident follows another shooting that took place in Tucson, Arizona, on July 19, where ten individuals, including the shooter, were injured in a crowded downtown area.
According to Tucson Police, officers on patrol heard gunfire around 2 a.m. and rushed towards the sound. Upon arrival, they observed a man fleeing the scene, and after issuing commands, an officer shot the suspect.
The identities of those involved in the Tucson shooting have not been released, and details regarding the victims' conditions remain unclear.
