Incident Overview

Sara Gilson, a popular TikTok personality known as Sara Duffey, was tragically killed by her estranged husband in what appears to be a murder-suicide, as reported by the Owasso Police Department in Oklahoma. The incident occurred on the evening of July 23, following a 911 call made by Gilson's teenage son, who reportedly witnessed the horrific event. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered both Sara and her estranged spouse, Jeremiah Shawn Duffey, deceased from gunshot wounds.

Investigators revealed that Jeremiah shot Gilson before taking his own life. It was also confirmed that he had breached a protective order that had been issued in her favor just a month prior to this tragic event. Court documents indicate that Gilson had previously sought another protective order against him back in 2021.

Allegations and Protective Orders

Details of the Protective Order

Court filings indicate that Gilson sought a protective order in June, alleging that Duffey had been seen engaging in inappropriate behavior with a child from one of the youth basketball teams he coached. The documents also stated that after being confronted about this, he threatened to take his own life before fleeing the scene. Subsequently, the mother of the child involved filed her own protective order, claiming that Duffey had attempted to bribe her daughter to remain silent regarding his inappropriate messages and actions.

Brittany Fisher, a neighbor, spoke to a local news outlet, emphasizing that this tragedy underscores the pervasive issue of domestic violence. She stated, "Domestic violence doesn't discriminate. It doesn't matter where you live or your social or economic status. It can happen to anyone."

Support for Gilson's Children

In the wake of Gilson's passing, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist her two children. The fundraiser portrays Gilson as "an incredible mom" who placed her children at the heart of her life. The sudden loss has left them facing a daunting future without their mother. The funds raised will be allocated to cover immediate living expenses, counseling, educational costs, funeral expenses, and other financial necessities as the children begin to rebuild their lives. As of the latest update, the campaign has successfully raised over $16,700 towards its $28,000 target.
