The attack occurred around 9:30 PM on Tuesday when assailants broke into her home and attacked her with knives. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Nancy succumbed to her injuries en route.

Following this shocking event, her mother, Tejinder Kaur, spoke to the media, making serious allegations regarding the circumstances surrounding her daughter's death. Nancy was known for her outspoken criticism of Khalistani extremists on her social media platforms.

Tejinder Kaur claimed that a relative of a known Khalistani figure, Jasveer Singh Rode, had a vendetta against her daughter and had pressured her for an apology. She directly accused local Khalistani groups in LaSalle/Windsor of orchestrating the murder.
