Tragic Lynching in Bangladesh: Ten Arrested in Connection with Hindu Man's Death
Arrests Made Following Lynching Incident
Dhaka/New Delhi: In a shocking incident, ten individuals have been detained in relation to the lynching of a Hindu man in Bangladesh, as announced by Chief Adviser of the interim government, Muhammad Yunus, on Saturday.
Dipu Chandra Das, a 25-year-old worker in a garment factory, was brutally killed by a mob and subsequently set ablaze over accusations of blasphemy in Baluka, Mymensingh, on Thursday.
According to Yunus, seven of the suspects were apprehended by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), while the remaining three were taken into custody by the police.
Operations were carried out in multiple locations to capture these suspects, with their ages ranging from 19 to 46.
Reports indicate that Das was initially assaulted by a mob outside his workplace due to the blasphemy allegations and was later hanged from a tree.
The mob then abandoned his body on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway before setting it on fire.
Authorities recovered the remains and transported them to the Mymensingh Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
The interim government condemned the lynching on Friday, asserting that such acts of violence have no place in the new Bangladesh.
They emphasized that those responsible for this atrocious act will face justice.
The Hindu community in Bangladesh has experienced a rise in anti-minority incidents following the removal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August of the previous year.
