Indian Casualty in Kuwaiti Attack

Dubai: An Indian citizen has tragically lost their life in Kuwait due to Iranian strikes targeting a power and water desalination facility, marking the eighth Indian fatality linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia over the past month.

According to Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, a service building at the site sustained damage during the attack that occurred on Sunday, as reported by the state-run KUNA news agency.

The Indian embassy in Kuwait has confirmed the death of the Indian national involved.

In a social media statement, the embassy expressed profound condolences for the loss of the Indian national resulting from the assault on the desalination facility.

The embassy is actively working with Kuwaiti authorities to provide all necessary support and assistance.

Kuwaiti officials condemned the strikes on the desalination plant, labeling them as brutal, although they did not disclose the specific location of the facility.

Fatima Jawhar Hayat, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, confirmed that the strike led to the death of an Indian worker.

Emergency response teams were promptly dispatched to the scene to manage the situation and address the aftermath according to established protocols.

Hayat noted that specialized teams are securing the facility while collaborating closely with security agencies and other relevant organizations.

The ministry assured that the operational efficiency of the electricity and water networks in the country remains unaffected.

Just last week, an Indian national was among two fatalities in the UAE when missile debris, intercepted by the country's air defense system, fell onto a street.
