Los Angeles, Sep 16: Local officials have reported that a helicopter crash in Los Angeles, California, has resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals.

The accident took place late Tuesday evening near Chatsworth, where an earlier collision between an SUV and a Metro bus had already claimed two lives.

According to NBC Los Angeles, the news helicopter was covering the SUV-Metro bus incident live when it went down.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) confirmed the crash, which occurred at 9151 N. Mason Avenue in Chatsworth. Initial reports indicate that the helicopter crashed around 7 p.m. between two commercial buildings.

Efforts were underway to locate the pilot and other passengers aboard the helicopter following the crash, as reported by NBC Los Angeles.

In total, three fatalities have been confirmed, and one individual was taken to a local hospital, though their condition remains unclear.

CBS News noted that the helicopter appeared to have landed on top of two shipping containers and several parked vehicles in the vicinity.

Multiple helicopters were seen flying over the Chatsworth area as emergency responders and news crews attended to the earlier SUV-Metro bus crash when the helicopter incident occurred.

The crash also ignited a fire, prompting emergency teams to respond quickly to manage the situation.

KTLA reported that at least one person had been rescued from the wreckage, but the total number of injuries from the helicopter crash has not yet been confirmed.

According to a follow-up from CBS News, the fire at the crash site has since been extinguished.

Emergency personnel erected a canopy over one of the deceased as they continued their recovery efforts.
