Tragic Explosion in Qatar: Energy Minister Offers Condolences to Indian and Pakistani Embassies

In a heartfelt gesture, Qatar's Energy Minister Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi visited the Indian Embassy in Doha to express condolences following a tragic explosion at the Barzan gas facility, which resulted in the deaths of 12 Indian nationals and one Pakistani national. The incident, which occurred in Ras Laffan Industrial City, also left 66 individuals injured. Al-Kaabi's visit underscores the solidarity and support from the Qatari energy sector during this difficult time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also received condolences from Qatar's Amir, highlighting the shared grief over the loss of lives. An investigation into the cause of the explosion is currently underway.
 

Condolences Extended by Qatar's Energy Minister

Dubai: On Wednesday, Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar's Energy Minister, visited the Indian Embassy in Doha to express his condolences following the tragic explosion at the Barzan gas facility that resulted in the deaths of 12 Indian nationals.


The explosion, which occurred on Sunday in Ras Laffan Industrial City, claimed a total of 13 lives, including one Pakistani national.


Al-Kaabi stated, "The loss of innocent lives is a tragedy that resonates with all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those who perished in this unfortunate event," as reported by QatarEnergy, the company he leads.


During his visit, Al-Kaabi met with Indian Ambassador Vipul, conveying his condolences both personally and on behalf of the Qatari energy sector.


He also expressed hopes for a swift recovery for those injured in the incident.


Ambassador Vipul expressed gratitude to the minister for his support and the assistance being provided by Qatari authorities to the affected families, as noted in a post by the Indian Embassy on X.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed on Tuesday that he received a call from Qatar's Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who conveyed his sorrow over the loss of Indian lives in the explosion.

The Prime Minister noted that he and the Amir of Qatar share the sorrow of the bereaved families and are praying for the quick recovery of those injured.


According to Qatari officials, at least 66 individuals sustained injuries in the explosion, which was attributed to a "technical malfunction" during operations at the facility. An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the precise cause of the incident.


Additionally, Al-Kaabi visited the Pakistani Embassy to extend his condolences regarding the death of the Pakistani national, as stated in a separate announcement from QatarEnergy.
