Tragic Drone Strike in Ukraine Claims Life of Indian Warehouse Worker
Drone Attack in Sumy
In a tragic incident, a 52-year-old worker at a pharmaceutical warehouse owned by Indian nationals lost his life due to a Russian airstrike in Sumy, Ukraine, as reported by local sources.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy extended his condolences to the victim's family following the attack.
Earlier today, Russian forces targeted the Pivnichnyi Bridge in Kyiv using drones, and also struck the pharmaceutical facility in Sumy, resulting in one fatality. Zelenskyy expressed his sorrow, stating, 'My condolences to the family and loved ones.'
The Ukrainian Embassy in India confirmed that the affected pharmaceutical factory is owned by Indian proprietors.
The embassy criticized the aggressors for disregarding the fact that the facility is not a military target and is essential for producing vital medicines.
They condemned the hypocrisy of those who speak of a 'historic friendship' between India and Russia while ignoring the devastation caused by Russian actions.
The embassy conveyed its deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased and expressed solidarity with the Indian owners over the loss of their factory.
According to the Kyiv Independent, the deceased was identified as a 52-year-old man, with three others sustaining injuries in the drone strike.
On Sunday, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar remarked that India has intensified its diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict, engaging in discussions with both Kyiv and Moscow.
Jaishankar's comments followed Russian President Vladimir Putin's acknowledgment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constructive ideas for achieving a mutually agreeable resolution to the ongoing conflict.
