Tensions Rise as Trump Declares Talks with Iran 'Too Late'
Escalating Conflict in the Middle East
Washington DC: As the situation in the Middle East reaches its fourth day of conflict, President Donald Trump stated that Iran is seeking dialogue with the United States. However, he emphasized that it is "too late" for such discussions. Trump's comments came amid escalating tensions as strikes on oil facilities in Gulf nations continued.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump asserted that the US had significantly weakened Iran's military capabilities, stating, "Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said - Too Late."
'Iran Open to Dignified Talks': In response, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, representing Iran's late Supreme Leader, indicated that Iran is willing to negotiate but insists on doing so with dignity. He mentioned that Iran has called upon the United Nations Security Council to intervene and halt the ongoing conflict with Israel and the US.
Trump's remarks coincided with an attack on the US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, confirmed by the Saudi Ministry of Defense. The ministry reported that the embassy was targeted by two drones, causing minor damage and a small fire, although the building was unoccupied at the time.
Trump's Statements on March 2: Earlier, Trump criticized Iran for disregarding warnings from the White House regarding its nuclear program. He stated, "Following our obliteration of Iran's nuclear program and Operation Midnight Hammer, we warned Iran not to attempt rebuilding at a different location, but they ignored those warnings and continued their pursuit of nuclear weapons."
Trump referred to US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June, which he claimed had completely dismantled Tehran's nuclear ambitions. In a CNN interview, he mentioned that US forces are actively targeting the Iranian regime, warning of a potential "big wave" of attacks. Additionally, he hinted at the possibility of deploying ground troops to Iran. The coordinated airstrikes by the US and Israel on February 28 targeted various military installations across Iran, resulting in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran launched strikes against Israel and US military bases in the Gulf region.
