Tensions Escalate as Iran's Revolutionary Guard Attacks Container Ship in Strait of Hormuz
Incident in the Strait of Hormuz
Dubai: On Wednesday, Iran's Revolutionary Guard fired upon a container vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, causing damage to the ship and heightening tensions amid stalled ceasefire negotiations in Pakistan.
According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the incident occurred at approximately 7:55 AM, targeting the container ship without prior warning from the Guard's gunboat.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the attack did not result in any environmental damage.
Iran has yet to officially respond to the incident.
This attack follows a recent event where the US seized an Iranian container ship after firing upon it and boarded an oil tanker linked to Iran's oil trade in the Indian Ocean.
