Indian wrestler Sunil Kumar faced a setback in the men's Greco-Roman 87kg semifinal during the Asian Games 2026, where he was defeated by Japan's Taizo Yoshida, who won decisively with a score of 11-0. Despite this loss, Sunil's hopes for a medal remain intact as he prepares for the bronze medal match against a repechage opponent. In his earlier bout, Sunil showcased his skills by overpowering Tajikistan's Muhammad Sultonzoda, winning 9-0 without allowing his opponent to score any points.

Archery: Women's Compound Team Triumphs

In a remarkable display of skill, the Indian women's compound archery team, consisting of Jyothi Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi, and Prithika Pradeep, clinched the gold medal by defeating China with a score of 238-234.
