Strengthening Ties: Indian Ambassador Discusses Defense Cooperation with US Officials

In a significant move to bolster defense ties, Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra met with US Under Secretary for Defense Elbridge Colby at the Pentagon. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral defense cooperation and implementing a recently signed 10-year defense agreement. Kwatra expressed gratitude for Colby's support in advancing the India-US strategic partnership, highlighting the importance of joint operational coordination and intelligence sharing. This meeting marks a crucial step in strengthening the defense relationship between the two nations.
 

Advancing India-US Defense Relations


Washington: Vinay Mohan Kwatra, the Indian Ambassador to the United States, recently engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing the strategic partnership between India and the US with a senior defense official.


During a meeting at the Pentagon on Friday, Kwatra spoke with Elbridge Colby, the US Under Secretary for Defense, focusing on defense collaboration between the two nations.


Kwatra expressed his appreciation for Colby's unwavering support in promoting the India-US strategic alliance through a post on X, stating, “A productive conversation with Undersecretary Elbridge Colby at the Pentagon. I value his commitment to advancing our partnership.”

Kwatra further noted his eagerness to continue their discussions to implement the agenda for bilateral defense and industrial cooperation.


Last October, India and the US formalized a decade-long defense cooperation agreement, which aims to enhance joint operational coordination, facilitate intelligence sharing in space and cyberspace, and bolster defense-industrial collaboration.
