Fire Incident in South Baltimore


A fire involving gasoline and propane materials ignited in south Baltimore on Thursday evening, producing a substantial plume of smoke visible from afar. Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene to manage the situation as the flames began to encroach upon a nearby residence.


According to officials, the Baltimore City Fire Department was alerted to the emergency shortly after 6:30 PM on March 12. Reports indicated a fire at a home located at 2203 Langley Street in the Saint Paul neighborhood. Upon arrival, firefighters observed flames outside the property, which were already threatening a two-story house adjacent to it, as reported by a local news outlet.



In a social media update, the fire department stated, “At 6:37 PM, the Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) was dispatched to 2203 Langley St. for a reported fire. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered an exterior fire that had begun spreading to a two-story dwelling. Officials confirmed that gasoline and propane materials were involved in the incident.”



Firefighters acted swiftly to contain the blaze, successfully bringing it under control and preventing it from spreading further. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.


Investigation into the Cause of the Fire


As of now, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Authorities are continuing to investigate the scene to ascertain how the fire ignited and how the flammable materials became involved. Given the presence of hazardous materials, the Maryland Department of the Environment has been called in to assist at the site, ensuring that any chemicals or spilled fuel do not pose an environmental threat.



The fire department emphasized the need for careful management due to the potential dangers posed by gasoline and propane, which can exacerbate fire conditions. In their statement, officials noted, “The fire has since been contained and brought under control by BCFD personnel. No injuries have been reported at this time. The Maryland Department of the Environment has been requested to respond to the scene due to the involvement of hazardous materials. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.”
