On Saturday night, a shooting incident occurred during the White House Correspondents Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel, prompting the evacuation of US President Donald Trump and other high-ranking officials. The gunfire erupted outside the ballroom where Trump, along with officials from both political parties and media guests, were gathered. The shots were fired shortly before Trump was set to deliver his keynote address as the guest of honor.

The alarming event unfolded around 8:34 PM local time, coinciding with the dinner service. At that moment, Trump was engaged in conversation with Weijia Jiang, the President of the White House Correspondents' Association, and mentalist Oz Pearlman, who was slated to perform at the event.

Thanks to the swift actions of the Secret Service, the suspect was apprehended, who was found to be armed with multiple weapons. During the pursuit, a security officer was shot but fortunately sustained no serious injuries due to wearing a bulletproof vest.

Secret Service agents and other security personnel quickly shielded President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Second Lady Usha Vance, escorting them safely out of the ballroom. Many attendees, including political leaders and journalists, instinctively took cover under tables in response to the chaos.

The shooter, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from California, has been arrested. Initial reports have not confirmed if Trump was specifically targeted, but it appears the shooter intended to harm officials associated with the Trump administration.
