Islamabad, August 4: A police officer lost his life following an attack by unidentified gunmen near the Jamali Bridge in Karachi, Sindh province, as reported by local news outlets on Tuesday.

According to police reports, a constable was injured when armed assailants opened fire on him and his partner while they were on duty near the bridge. Unfortunately, he died from his injuries while being transported to a medical facility, while his colleague escaped unharmed, as detailed by The Express Tribune.

In response to the shooting, law enforcement officials quickly arrived at the scene and initiated a search operation to locate the attackers.

This incident is part of a troubling trend, as attacks on law enforcement officers have surged in Pakistan, particularly in the border regions of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On August 2, a suicide bombing at the Kabal Police Station in Swat district resulted in the deaths of 17 individuals, including seven police officers. Reports indicate that 13 injured officers are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, according to Samaa TV.

The bombing occurred near the police station entrance, where a large crowd had gathered for a public demonstration at Kabal Chowk, as reported by the daily Dawn.

Swat District Police Officer Umar Khan stated that the suicide bomber detonated his explosives after officers attempted to stop him at the station's entry point. Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and began an investigation.

Earlier, on July 22, another police officer was killed in a shooting incident in the Sarvekai area of Upper South Waziristan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials reported that the constable, who was on his way to duty, was shot by unidentified assailants near a stream in the Moley Khan Sarai area. He succumbed to his injuries before medical help could arrive.

Following this incident, police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene to gather evidence and launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers. Authorities indicated that the investigation is being conducted from various angles.
