PM Modi's Landmark Visit to Namibia

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Namibia, marking the final leg of his tour across five nations. This visit is significant as it is Modi's first trip to Namibia and the third by any Indian Prime Minister. Upon his arrival, he received a formal welcome and participated in a traditional Namibian drumming session.

During his visit, PM Modi is set to engage in bilateral discussions with Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who extended the invitation for this visit. The Indian Prime Minister's itinerary includes paying tribute to Dr. Sam Nujoma, the founding father and first President of Namibia, and he is also expected to address the Namibian Parliament.

The Ministry of External Affairs had previously announced Modi's itinerary, which includes visits to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. The trip underscores the deep and multifaceted historical ties between India and Namibia.

Key areas of focus during this visit include discussions on uranium exports to India, exploration of recent oil and gas discoveries in Namibia, and potential defense cooperation. This journey also highlights India's commitment to strengthening relations with African nations. PM Modi's schedule features addressing a joint session of the Namibian Parliament and receiving the country's highest civilian honor.
