Ashley Noffke, the newly appointed Test bowling coach for Pakistan, has addressed the current uncertainty within the team following significant changes. He, along with interim head coach Mike Hesson, is dedicated to cultivating a positive atmosphere as they prepare for the final Test against England. This shift in coaching comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to send head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul home last week, leading to a major restructuring of the Test team ahead of the third match starting September 9. Following two heavy losses to England, the PCB released seven players, including Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq, and introduced five uncapped players alongside Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal.

Creating a Positive Environment

During a press conference, Noffke acknowledged the unusual situation but emphasized their commitment to positivity. He noted the players' uncertainty but commended their composed reactions. One-on-one discussions have been instrumental in allowing players to voice their concerns and refocus. Noffke stated, "It’s not common to have such a scenario, but our goal is to inject positivity. The players have shown remarkable calmness over the past few days, and we've facilitated discussions where they can express themselves and move forward."

Revamped Bowling Line-up

Noffke pointed out the uncertainty surrounding Pakistan's revamped pace attack, which now includes uncapped bowlers Razaullah and Mohammad Imran. He praised their training performances and highlighted the need for a balance between aggression and disciplined bowling based on pitch conditions. He expressed confidence in seasoned pacer Abbas and noted that the new bowlers are adapting well and displaying enthusiasm. "The new bowlers bring valuable pace to the team. We need to provide stability around our experienced players like Abbas, who has been exceptional throughout this series," he remarked.

Encouraging Focus on Cricket

Noffke shared insights from his experience with Pakistan's white-ball team, noting that uncertainty often surrounds the squad, much of which is beyond the players' control. He encouraged the players to concentrate on their game and highlighted the opportunities available for the talented young players in the team. "In my time coaching in Pakistan, I've learned that there's always something happening behind the scenes, often out of the players' control. They must focus on the cricket ahead of them, as there are great opportunities for skilled young cricketers," he stated.

These changes by the PCB followed a significant 194-run defeat in the second Test, which allowed England to secure a 2-0 lead in the series.
