Pakistan's Military Leadership Engages in Diplomatic Efforts

Islamabad: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan, has wrapped up a significant three-day visit to Iran, aimed at mediating the ongoing tensions between the US and Iran.

Leading a high-ranking delegation, Munir arrived in Tehran on Wednesday, marking the first visit by a foreign military leader since the recent ceasefire agreement between Iran and the US on April 8.

Throughout his stay, Munir engaged in talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as meetings with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to a statement from the military's media wing.

He also had discussions with Major General Ali Abdollahi, the Commander of Khatam ul Anbiya Headquarters.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi accompanied the Pakistani delegation during this diplomatic mission.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the conversations centered around establishing lasting peace in the region, focusing on the current security landscape, ongoing diplomatic efforts, and collaborative strategies to foster stability.

Munir emphasized the importance of dialogue, de-escalation, and resolving issues peacefully through continuous diplomatic efforts, as stated by the ISPR.

He expressed gratitude for the warm welcome received from Iran during their visit.

This trip underscores Pakistan's commitment to facilitating a peaceful resolution to the Middle East conflict and enhancing regional stability and prosperity.

Officials revealed that Pakistan is preparing to host the second round of crucial talks between the US and Iran next week.

The recent direct discussions held in Pakistan over the weekend aimed at resolving their differences concluded without a consensus.

The ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran is scheduled to end on April 22.
