Overview of the Incident

A young man from Oklahoma City, aged 18, has been taken into custody following a mass shooting at the Scissortail Campground in Arcadia Lake, which resulted in 23 injuries and the death of an 18-year-old woman. Court documents have named Jaylan Davis as the main suspect in the incident that occurred on May 3, believed to be linked to a gang dispute.

Identifying Jaylan Davis

Jaylan Davis, known by the nickname “3zzy,” was pinpointed by law enforcement through witness accounts and anonymous tips as one of the individuals involved in the shooting at Arcadia Lake. Court documents reveal that he has a history of criminal activity, including robbery and firearm possession, and has previously been classified as a youthful offender in Oklahoma County. Recent conflicts with gang members in Oklahoma City were also noted by investigators.

On May 4, a search warrant executed at his residence uncovered various items, such as a rifle-mounted light and ammunition for both .40-caliber and 7.62-caliber firearms. The 7.62 ammunition was found to match shell casings collected from the shooting site. Davis is currently held in the Oklahoma County jail on charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon, with a bond set at $1 million. If released, he will be subject to GPS monitoring, and authorities are in the process of elevating the charge to felony murder.

Details of the Shooting Incident

The shooting incident occurred on the evening of May 3 during what was initially described as a loud music gathering. The first 911 call was received around 8:51 PM, initially treated as a noise complaint. However, as officers were en route, further calls reported gunfire, leading police to arrive at the scene by 9:12 PM.

It is believed that the violence erupted from a confrontation between two women, which quickly escalated into gunfire. Authorities estimate that over 80 rounds were discharged, resulting in injuries that varied from minor to severe, with most victims having been treated and released from medical care. Multiple firearms were reportedly used, including a modified Glock handgun capable of rapid fire.
