Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, which will likely lead to increased rainfall across Odisha, according to a weather expert.

Despite this forecast, residents need not worry as there are no indications of a cyclone forming, she clarified.

Manorama Mohanty, the director of the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, stated, “A low-pressure area is anticipated to form around May 27, resulting in heavy rainfall in the state. However, the IMD has not predicted any cyclone.”

The state is set to witness heightened rainfall activities in the upcoming week, although the IMD has yet to announce when the southwest monsoon will officially reach Odisha.

She further explained, “The monsoon will arrive in Odisha only after it has passed through the entire Northeast and the southern peninsula.”

Mohanty also mentioned that all 30 districts in the state are expected to experience rain on Monday.
