Noida International Airport Set to Launch Commercial Flights in June 2026
Introduction to Noida Airport
A new chapter in air connectivity for Delhi NCR and northern India is about to begin. The Noida International Airport has officially announced that it will commence commercial flight operations starting June 15, 2026. The inaugural flight will be operated by IndiGo, followed by services from Akasa Air and Air India Express.
Security Approval and Capacity
Recently, the Noida International Airport received approval for its Aerodrome Security Program from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. This approval confirms that the airport meets all international safety standards and operational procedures.
Capacity to Handle 12 Million Passengers
In its initial phase, the airport will have the capacity to accommodate 12 million passengers annually. Plans are in place for phased expansion to eventually handle up to 70 million passengers. Notably, the airport is designed with sustainability in mind and is committed to achieving net-zero emissions.
Development and Modern Facilities
The development of Noida International Airport is being undertaken by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG. This project is being implemented under a public-private partnership model with the support of both the Uttar Pradesh and Indian governments.
Equipped with Modern Amenities
Located in Jewar, the airport will feature state-of-the-art terminal facilities and excellent multimodal connectivity. Its opening is expected to alleviate pressure on existing air traffic in Delhi NCR and provide travelers with better options. Experts believe that the operationalization of this airport will stimulate economic activities in western Uttar Pradesh, opening new avenues for tourism, business, and investment, thus accelerating overall regional development.
