Noida International Airport Enforces Height Restrictions and Tree Planting Ban
Height Restrictions Near Noida International Airport
The construction of the Noida International Airport is nearing completion, prompting authorities to implement strict regulations. They have announced that any construction activities or tree planting within a 20-kilometer radius of the airport are strictly prohibited unless prior height clearance or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) is obtained from the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
This advisory particularly targets builders, real estate developers, local authorities, landowners, and residents. Mr. Kiran Jain, the airport's Chief Operating Officer, emphasized that obtaining this approval is crucial for maintaining safety and ensuring uninterrupted flight operations and navigation systems.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has established guidelines concerning height restrictions under GSR 751 (E) rule, 2015, aimed at safeguarding aircraft during flights. These regulations stipulate that no tall structures can be erected within the airport's protected airspace without proper authorization, as they could endanger aircraft and interfere with Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS). This information was shared in a press release by YEIDA.
Before commencing any construction or tree planting, all relevant parties must secure permission from local authorities. Officials will determine the permissible height for construction based on the color-coded zoning map (CCZM) provided by AAI. Should the proposed height exceed the allowed limit, obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) becomes essential.
In 2023, the government introduced the "Aircraft (Demolition of Obstructions caused by Buildings and Trees) Rules" to enforce these regulations. These rules empower officials to remove unauthorized structures or trees and initiate legal proceedings against violators.
A senior official from Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) urged builders and residents to halt any unauthorized construction immediately and to apply for the necessary NOC promptly. Adhering to these guidelines will facilitate the safe and efficient operation of Noida International Airport, positioning it as a key hub for the region.
