New Theories Emerge in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Case
Ongoing Search for Nancy Guthrie
The search for Nancy Guthrie has now extended into its seventh week, prompting former Pima County official Rick Kastigar to propose a troubling theory regarding the 84-year-old's disappearance. In an interview with a media channel, Kastigar suggested that her case might involve multiple individuals and hinted at a possible abduction scenario.
Kastigar speculated that Nancy could have been taken to Mexico, potentially to ensure she received necessary medical treatment. Nancy, who is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, a co-host on Today, was last seen on January 31, when authorities suspect she was abducted from her residence in Tucson, Arizona. Investigators have since released footage from a doorbell camera showing a masked individual and have provided a description of a potential suspect.
According to Kastigar, the abductors would likely want to keep Nancy alive to negotiate with her family, possibly for financial reasons. He theorized that they might have transported her across the border to manage her health needs. However, he expressed skepticism about whether this plan was successful, suggesting that Nancy may have died during the ordeal, which would remove any leverage the kidnappers had.
Kastigar noted that while Savannah and her family have made public pleas for Nancy's return, they have not explicitly stated they want her back alive. He remarked, “My theory is that she’s passed,” indicating that the perpetrators may now lack any bargaining power.
Earlier reports revealed that Nancy's pacemaker ceased syncing with her Apple Watch on February 1. Authorities have also mentioned her limited mobility and the necessity for daily medication to manage her high blood pressure and heart conditions.
