Netanyahu Thanks Modi for Support Amid Regional Tensions
Netanyahu's Acknowledgment of Modi's Support
During a visit to Beit Shemesh, where Iranian attacks resulted in the tragic deaths of nine individuals at a synagogue, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed gratitude towards Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated, "I had an extensive conversation with our esteemed friend, Prime Minister Modi, yesterday, where I thanked him for his unwavering support for Israel, his commitment to truth, and the profound friendship shared by our nations," as reported by a media outlet. However, he refrained from disclosing specific details of their discussion. "I won't delve into the specifics, but I have engaged with him and several other leaders both in the region and beyond," he noted. The rapport between Modi and Netanyahu is well-documented, transcending the formal ties between their respective governments. The relationship between India and Israel has significantly strengthened over the last decade, encompassing trade, defense, and cultural exchanges.
Prime Minister Modi's recent state visit to Israel took place from February 25 to 26. Following this, on February 28, the US and Israel initiated military actions against Iran. In a recent tweet, PM Modi shared insights from his conversation with Netanyahu, stating, "I had a phone call with PM Netanyahu to discuss the current regional dynamics. I expressed India's concerns regarding recent events and highlighted the importance of civilian safety. India reiterates the necessity for an immediate halt to hostilities." Many Indians residing in the Middle East are currently facing challenges due to the ongoing situation. In recent hours, PM Modi has reached out to various leaders in the region, including a conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan. He conveyed, "I spoke with His Majesty King Abdullah II, expressing our deep concerns regarding the evolving circumstances in the region. We reaffirm our commitment to peace, security, and the welfare of the Jordanian people. I also thanked him for his support of the Indian community in Jordan during this challenging time," as stated in his message on X.
