Strengthening Regional Ties in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: On Tuesday, Nepal's Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal engaged in discussions regarding regional collaboration with Indra Mani Pandey, the general secretary of BIMSTEC, during his visit to Kathmandu.

Pandey is in Nepal for a two-day official visit.

BIMSTEC, which stands for the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, comprises seven nations: Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. This group focuses on enhancing trade, technology, and economic development.

Khanal emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among BIMSTEC nations to accelerate economic transformation in the sub-region while effectively addressing shared regional challenges, as stated by his office.

He also highlighted the necessity of evolving BIMSTEC into a more effective, results-driven, and citizen-focused organization to ensure tangible benefits for all member countries' populations.

During their meeting, Pandey commended Nepal for its proactive role and significant contributions to BIMSTEC initiatives, expressing optimism that Nepal will maintain its collaborative spirit and support in the future.
