The refinery is crucial for Israel's fuel supply, processing a significant amount of the nation's diesel and gasoline. This incident follows the activation of sirens across various regions in Israel, raising concerns about national security and fuel availability.
 

Missile Attack on Haifa Refinery


A missile strike attributed to Iran has led to power outages at various sites within Israel's Haifa refinery. Eyewitness footage shared on social media depicted thick smoke rising from the vicinity of the Bazan oil refinery. Israeli media outlets reported incidents of fire, falling debris, and shrapnel in the Haifa area. This attack follows the activation of sirens across northern and central regions of Israel, including Jerusalem.



The Haifa refinery, known as Bazan, is Israel's largest and most vital fuel production facility, providing approximately 50-60% of the nation's fuel needs, including around 60% of its diesel and 50% of its gasoline. The refinery plays a crucial role in fueling various sectors, including transportation, aviation, and military operations, processing up to 197,000 barrels of oil daily. Notably, Israel operates only two refineries in total.
