Washington, Oct 16: American singer Mary Millben has made headlines by alleging that billionaire George Soros is financing protests in India. This statement was part of her video message directed at young Indians, intensifying her ongoing dispute with Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).
In response to frequent inquiries about the financial backers of these protests, Millben stated, “The funding comes from the same individuals or groups, primarily based in America, who support various protests globally, especially when conservative leaders are in power. The name that stands out is George Soros, along with his network that fuels unrest worldwide.”
She emphasized that this information is widely known, claiming that Dipke himself had acknowledged Soros as a financial supporter on social media, although she did not provide any proof for her assertions.
Millben's video elaborated on her previous posts on social media, where she suggested that the CJP was receiving funds from unspecified American donors, without directly naming Dipke or any specific contributors.
Addressing Dipke directly, a Boston University alumnus, she remarked, “If you redirected your talents and ability to gather people towards positive initiatives, you could become a significant force in India.”
She encouraged him to engage in constructive dialogue with India's Prime Minister and leadership, stating, “You will not leave a lasting legacy after this protest season concludes.”
Millben also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that neither he nor Dipke possess the character or leadership qualities necessary for bipartisan cooperation with the current government, and claimed their protests lack meaningful solutions. She described the ongoing protests in India as lacking substance.
Drawing parallels between the current protests and the American civil rights movement, she compared them to groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter, praising Martin Luther King Jr. for his peaceful approach that led to significant legislative changes.
“He was not interested in chaos or destruction; he had a clear vision for America and advocated for it peacefully,” she noted.
Millben praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “one of the best leaders globally,” highlighting his extensive experience in public service and dismissing claims of electoral fraud, stating, “That’s not election fraud; it reflects the people's support for their leader.”
She expressed confidence in Modi's re-election in 2029, suggesting that the opposition's efforts would be fleeting. The CJP and other opposition parties have been protesting in Delhi, demanding the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner over alleged electoral roll manipulation.
“I hope to visit India soon to meet and inspire you all to use your voices positively,” Millben stated, without specifying any dates.
“Young patriots, rise and use your voices. Assemble and protest peacefully. There should always be a counter-movement to chaos, one that promotes peace and unity,” she concluded.
Millben, recognized for her patriotic performances, previously sang India's national anthem during Prime Minister Modi's visit to the US in 2023.
