Dramatic footage has surfaced, showing the event as it unfolded on the runway. According to Irish police, the individual entered an unauthorized section of the airport on Saturday morning and approached a large military transport plane, specifically a C-130 Hercules.

Video shared on social media depicts the man climbing onto the aircraft and striking one of its wings with an object. The footage captures him scaling the plane and repeatedly hitting the wing, which prompted a swift response from law enforcement.

In an official announcement, authorities stated: “An adult male, aged in his 40s, was arrested for alleged criminal damage by gardai shortly before 11 AM and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in the Clare Tipperary Division.” The suspect can be held for a maximum of 24 hours, excluding breaks.

This incident caused a temporary disruption to airport operations. A representative from Shannon Airport confirmed that activities were paused around 9:50 AM while police addressed the security breach. “The airport suspended operations at approximately 9:50 AM and operations resumed at 10:15 AM,” she noted, adding that normal activities have since returned following the incident, which required police assistance.

Authorities have not disclosed additional information regarding the suspect's motive, but the footage has garnered significant attention due to the breach of security and the unusual nature of the attack on a military aircraft.
