Major Terror Attack in Pakistan: Security Forces Respond with Force
Security Forces Neutralize Terror Threat in Balochistan
Karachi: In a significant operation, Pakistani security forces eliminated 12 militants following an assault on two banks and a police station in the troubled Balochistan province, as reported by the military on Saturday.
According to the military's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of approximately 15-20 militants launched an attack in Kharan town, taking several personnel hostage. Fortunately, these hostages were rescued unharmed during a subsequent clean-up operation.
The attackers managed to steal 3.4 million PKR from the banks on January 15 before attempting to flee. The military confirmed that twelve of the assailants were killed in three separate firefights that ensued.
The ISPR noted that the militants involved in this incident were linked to previous terror activities in the region.
A sanitization operation is currently ongoing in Kharan and its neighboring areas.
This incident marks the most significant terrorist attack in Balochistan this year, a province that has long been plagued by violence, with last year being particularly deadly, according to independent research organizations.
