Major Drug Bust: Three Indians Caught with 50 kg of Cannabis in Sri Lanka
Significant Drug Seizure at Colombo Airport
Colombo: Authorities in Sri Lanka apprehended three Indian individuals for allegedly attempting to smuggle 50 kilograms of cannabis, estimated to be worth LKR 500 million. This incident marks the largest drug seizure recorded at Colombo's international airport, as reported by officials on Tuesday.
The trio, which includes two women aged 25 and 27 from Mumbai who work as teachers, arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on a SriLankan Airways flight from Bangkok.
According to police, the suspects were trying to escape through the green channel when they were intercepted.
The narcotics bureau confirmed that the seized Kush Cannabis represents the most significant drug haul ever detected at the airport.
