Significant Arrests in Punjab


Lahore: On Monday, authorities in Pakistan announced the apprehension of 12 militants in the Punjab region, according to police reports.


The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) revealed that these arrests were made during intelligence-led operations in cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur, where explosives and firearms were seized from the suspects.


The detained individuals were allegedly plotting terror attacks targeting sensitive locations and places of worship throughout Punjab, aiming to instigate fear and religious strife, as stated by the CTD.


Reports indicate that the militants had been filming sensitive sites and religious venues.


Authorities confiscated seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two detonators, explosive materials, firearms, mobile devices, and cash from the suspects.


Legal cases have been initiated against the arrested individuals, and investigations are ongoing.


The CTD has suggested, without providing evidence, that the arrested militants may have connections to groups in India.


Since the launch of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has frequently made unfounded accusations against New Delhi on various matters.
