Qondisa Ngwenya has been named the Chief Executive Officer, while Edward Khoza will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer for the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2027.

As reported by a sports news outlet, Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed these appointments on Saturday after a thorough recruitment process, with both candidates receiving unanimous support. Ngwenya, who is currently the president of Cycling South Africa, brings a wealth of experience from both the sports and media industries, including a previous position as the head of television production company Octagon. Khoza has held various significant roles within CSA, most recently serving as the executive of domestic cricket. He also played a crucial role in cricket pathways during the Social Justice and Nation-Building (SJN) hearings in 2021.
LOC Board Expresses Confidence in New Leadership
Trevor Manuel, the Chairperson of the LOC Board, welcomed the new appointments, expressing trust in their capabilities to successfully manage the upcoming global event. "The LOC Board is thrilled to have Qondisa and Edward on board. We anticipate their expertise will be invaluable in executing such a large-scale sporting event," Manuel stated.
Overview of the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2027
The ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2027 is set to take place in October and November, co-hosted by South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. The tournament will feature 14 teams competing in a total of 54 matches.
Out of the 14 teams, 10 will qualify automatically based on their rankings and host status, while the remaining four spots will be filled through a World Cup Qualifier event involving 10 competing teams.
