The last significant TTP attack in Karachi occurred in February 2023, when militants targeted the Karachi Police Office on Shahrah-e-Faisal, leading to numerous casualties.

Initial investigations revealed that the attackers breached the Rangers compound by ramming a vehicle through the main gate before launching grenades, causing multiple explosions. Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho initially reported that three Rangers personnel had died in the attack, stating, "More details are being collected, but initial investigations confirm the terrorists arrived in a vehicle and entered the compound by ramming the main gate.
