While JD Vance is not yet ready to delve into the 2028 presidential race, Donald Trump appears to be quite interested. In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Vance shared insights into how discussions about the next election often begin with Trump. He noted, "I never bring it up. But sure, the president brings it up a lot of stuff, sometimes publicly, sometimes privately," as reported by a major news outlet.

Vance characterized Trump as someone who genuinely enjoys engaging in political discussions, stating that the president raises the topic out of curiosity rather than any specific agenda. "The president's a political animal. He loves this stuff. He's fascinated by it," Vance remarked, adding that Trump approaches the subject with a sense of wonder about future possibilities.

Who likes Marco Rubio?" Trump queried, suggesting they could make a strong ticket.

Vance's Assurance of Trump's Support

Despite the lighthearted comparisons with Rubio, Vance remains unfazed. He expressed confidence that Trump will support him, regardless of his decision. "I have no doubt that the president of the United States is going to be very supportive of anything that I ultimately decide to do," Vance stated, although he acknowledged that they have yet to discuss specifics.

Rubio has indicated he would not pursue the Republican nomination if Vance chooses to run, leaving the decision-making to Vance and Trump, who has not publicly favored either candidate.

Timing of Decisions Post-Midterms

Vance has consistently maintained that he will not make any decisions regarding 2028 until after the midterm elections in November. He reiterated this stance during the CBS interview, mentioning that he and his wife, Usha, will evaluate their future once the elections conclude. "The way I make decisions is, I try not to make them until I absolutely must," he explained.

This interview coincides with the upcoming release of Vance's second memoir, titled "Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith," which is set to be published on Tuesday.
