Israel Conducts Major Airstrikes on Iranian Military Targets
Significant Strikes by Israeli Defense Forces
Tel Aviv: On March 1, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) released footage showcasing their air force targeting military installations in Tehran, Iran. This operation marks a pivotal moment as it is the first instance of Israel striking Iranian military bases since the initiation of 'Operation Roaring Lion'. The IDF stated, "For the first time since the commencement of Operation ‘Roaring Lion’, the Israeli Air Force is engaging targets associated with the Iranian terror regime in central Tehran," in a post on X.
Israel's 'Operation Roaring Lion' aims to confront the current Iranian leadership. The IDF further elaborated that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) executed extensive strikes to assert aerial dominance and facilitate operations towards Tehran.
Additionally, the IAF shared a video documenting the destruction of the Iranian military headquarters, captioned, "Documentation from the last minutes: Destruction of the Iranian terror regime's headquarters in the heart of Tehran."
The IDF also released footage showing the destruction of Iranian fighter jets, stating, "STRUCK: Two F5 and F4 fighter jets at the airport of Tabriz in western Iran, as the jets were prepared for takeoff. The strike was conducted to degrade the Iranian Air Force’s activities and to further expand the degradation of their aerial defense."
On February 28, the United States and Israel coordinated airstrikes against Iran, resulting in the deaths of several high-ranking officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, Defense Minister Amir Naserzadeh, and Commander-in-Chief Mohammad Pakpour. In response, Iran initiated 'Operation True Promise 4', targeting multiple US military bases across Gulf nations, including the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain. Furthermore, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier was struck by four ballistic missiles, a claim that the US has denied.
