Diplomatic Engagements by Pakistan's Foreign Minister

Islamabad: On Sunday, Ishaq Dar, who serves as Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, engaged in separate phone discussions with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt, focusing on various bilateral and regional matters.

According to the Foreign Office, Dar's conversations included talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

During his dialogue with the Saudi minister, they addressed both regional and international issues, emphasizing topics of shared interest within multilateral platforms.

The two leaders also reviewed the outcomes from the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Defence Alliance, which took place in Istanbul, and committed to maintaining close communication.

Dar expressed gratitude to Fidan for hosting the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement on August 31.

This agreement, signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey on August 7, stipulates that an armed attack on any of the three nations will be viewed as an attack on all, promoting enhanced defense collaboration.

The Foreign Office noted that both ministers discussed the progress made since the Istanbul meeting and explored further avenues for cooperation within this framework.

They also exchanged insights on regional and global developments, identifying opportunities to bolster collaboration in multilateral settings.

Earlier, Dar had a conversation with Abdelatty, where they discussed the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Egypt, along with regional and international developments.

Abdelatty extended an invitation for Dar to visit Egypt for bilateral talks at his earliest convenience.

Both officials reaffirmed their dedication to staying engaged on regional security issues and agreed to meet during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly later this month.
