Is Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei Dead? Major Attack Raises Questions
Major Attack on Iran: Khamenei's Fate Uncertain
Dubai: Israeli officials reported on Saturday that a significant assault by Israel and the United States has resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This information was relayed to The Associated Press.
As of now, there has been no official response from either the United States or Iran regarding Khamenei's condition. The potential assassination of the Islamic Republic's second leader, who lacks a designated successor, could lead to uncertainty about Iran's future and heighten fears of extended conflict due to Iranian threats of retaliation.
In a televised speech, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that there were "increasing indications" that Khamenei had been killed during an Israeli strike on his residence early Saturday morning.
Following Netanyahu's remarks, two Israeli officials confirmed Khamenei's death, although they requested anonymity until a formal announcement was made and did not provide additional details.
The attack also targeted various high-ranking members of Iran's leadership. Israel claimed to have eliminated the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and the nation's defense minister. Additionally, the Israeli military stated that its operations resulted in the death of the secretary of the Iranian Security Council, who was a close advisor to Khamenei.
Israeli forces reported that they targeted three sites in Tehran based on intelligence suggesting that key Iranian officials were present. However, neither Iran nor the United States has commented on or validated Israel's assertions regarding the fate of the Iranian leadership.
