Iran's Response to U.S. Actions

On Monday, Ali Larijani, Iran’s security chief, criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for involving Americans in what he termed an "unjust war" against Iran. He stated that Tehran would not engage in negotiations with Washington amid rising tensions. In a post on social media platform X, Larijani remarked, "Mr. Trump, alongside Netanyahu’s antics, has led the American populace into an unfair conflict with Iran. Now, he should consider: with over 500 American soldiers lost recently, is it still 'America First' or 'Israel First'?"

Larijani, who leads Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, made these comments as tensions escalated following a series of U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian sites over the weekend. He also warned of retaliation if Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were harmed, stating, "The martyrdom of Imam Khamenei will come at a significant cost to you. God willing."

Earlier, Larijani dismissed claims that Iranian officials were looking to negotiate with the U.S. after the recent military actions. He firmly stated, "Iran will not negotiate with the United States," countering media reports suggesting Tehran had reached out to the Trump administration. These remarks followed a series of strikes by U.S. and Israeli forces on Iranian targets, significantly heightening hostilities in West Asia, which came after previous nuclear discussions between Tehran and Washington.

Larijani further accused Trump of causing instability in the region, asserting that the U.S. president's actions have led to chaos in West Asia. He remarked, "Trump has thrown the region into disorder with his delusional fantasies and now fears further American troop losses." The conflict has escalated, with Iran launching new strikes against Israel and U.S. military bases in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, following U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran on Saturday. Iran has also blocked the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, causing a spike in global oil prices. The U.S. military reported that six of its personnel have died in the ongoing conflict, while the Iranian Red Crescent Society indicated that at least 787 individuals have been killed due to the U.S.-Israeli strikes, with reports confirming at least 11 fatalities in Israel.
