Iran in Mourning: Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei Reportedly Killed in US-Israeli Strikes
Tragic News from Tehran
On Sunday, Iranian state media reported the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, allegedly due to airstrikes conducted by the US and Israel. Following this announcement, the Iranian government declared a mourning period lasting 40 days.
The strikes reportedly also claimed the lives of four of Khamenei's family members, including his daughter, grandchild, and son-in-law, as per sources cited by Fars News Agency.
Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to confirm Khamenei's death, labeling it a pivotal moment for the Iranian populace to regain sovereignty over their nation. He described Khamenei as 'one of the most evil people in history' and referred to the event as 'justice for the people of Iran' and for 'all great Americans and those from various countries who have suffered at the hands of Khamenei and his ruthless associates.'
Trump emphasized that Khamenei could not evade US intelligence and advanced tracking systems, asserting that there was nothing he or other leaders could do to escape their fate.
In his post, Trump indicated that military operations against Iran would persist, stating, 'The heavy and pinpoint bombing will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or as long as necessary to achieve our objective of peace throughout the Middle East and indeed the world!'
He reiterated his previous call for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, military, and police forces to disarm in exchange for immunity.
In a Saturday interview with NBC News, Trump claimed that 'most' of Iran's senior leadership has been eliminated, asserting, 'The people that make all the decisions, most of them are gone.'
Israeli media also corroborated the reports of Khamenei's death and mentioned that his body has been located.
