Mojtaba Khamenei's Absence Raises Questions
Will Mojtaba Khamenei Attend His Father's Funeral?
Notably absent from the funeral is Mojtaba Khamenei, the Supreme Leader's son. Reports from Iranian government sources indicate that he may not attend due to security issues. Mojtaba was severely injured in the attack that claimed his father's life and has not made any public appearances since the conflict began, communicating only through written messages. His presence at the funeral could signify a crucial moment for his legitimacy both domestically and internationally. Conversely, his absence could raise concerns regarding his safety and the current leadership in Iran.
