Military Action in Balochistan

Karachi: In a recent intelligence-led operation in Balochistan, Pakistani security forces successfully neutralized four terrorists, according to military reports.

The operation took place in the Kalat district on Monday, as detailed by the military's media division, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Following an intense exchange of gunfire, the forces managed to eliminate the terrorists, as stated in the ISPR's announcement on Tuesday.

Additionally, the operation resulted in the recovery of weapons and ammunition from the terrorists, who were reportedly involved in various terrorist activities in the region.

In light of a significant increase in terrorist incidents, Pakistani security forces have intensified their intelligence-based operations against insurgent groups in Balochistan. Reports indicate a 34% rise in terror attacks across the country last year.

The Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies, based in Islamabad, released a report earlier this month highlighting that in 2025, terrorist attacks surged by 34%, with terrorism-related fatalities increasing by 21%, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During a press briefing last week, ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry revealed that security forces, including the army, police, and intelligence agencies, conducted a staggering 75,175 intelligence-based operations throughout 2025.

Breaking down the figures, he noted that 14,658 operations were executed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 58,778 in Balochistan, and 1,739 in other regions of Pakistan.

The report also indicated that there were 5,397 terror incidents nationwide last year, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accounting for 3,811 (71%), Balochistan for 1,557 (29%), and the remaining 29 incidents occurring in other areas.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during his visit to Quetta on Monday, reaffirmed the commitment of security forces and law enforcement agencies to continue their counterterrorism efforts vigorously to eradicate terrorism from the nation.

Insurgent groups in Balochistan have escalated their attacks, targeting both security installations and civilian populations.
