The Indian U-17 girls' boxing team kicked off their journey at the Asian Boxing U-17 Championships 2026 with an impressive display, achieving five victories on the opening day in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Rakhi (48kg) set the tone by decisively defeating her opponent from Sri Lanka through a referee stop contest (RSC) in the first round.
Following this strong start, Ovi (50kg) secured a unanimous 5-0 win against her Iranian rival, while Mamta (52kg) showcased her skills with another 5-0 victory over a Thai boxer. Lakshmi (54kg) continued the trend, dominating her match against Korea with a clear 5-0 decision. Navya (57kg) concluded a remarkable day for the Indian team by winning via RSC in Round 1 against Vietnam.
Boys' Category Highlights
In the boys' events, Neela Narendra Kumar (46kg) delivered an impressive performance, achieving a first-round RSC victory over Khalid Alhossah from Saudi Arabia. However, Daksh Pawar (48kg) faced a challenging match and lost 0-5 to Tajikistan's Firuzjon Boymatov.
