India's Smartphone Exports to the US Surge Amid Global Challenges
Significant Growth in Smartphone Exports
New Delhi, Dec 4: Recent government statistics reveal that India's smartphone exports to the United States have skyrocketed over three times year-on-year, reaching $1.47 billion in October.
In October of the previous year, the export figure stood at $0.46 billion.
The data indicates a remarkable recovery in smartphone exports to the US this fiscal year, totaling $10.78 billion from April to October, a significant increase from $3.60 billion during the same timeframe last year.
After a robust start with $1.65 billion in April and $2.29 billion in May, monthly shipments experienced a decline mid-year, dropping to $1.99 billion in June, $1.52 billion in July, $0.96 billion in August, and $0.88 billion in September.
However, this downward trend has stabilized, supported by strong demand. This positive shift occurs despite ongoing tariff uncertainties in the US that could affect pricing and consumer sentiment.
On a year-over-year basis, India's exports to the US have consistently increased each month, climbing from $0.66 billion in April last year to $0.76 billion in May, $0.59 billion in June, $0.49 billion in July, $0.39 billion in August, and $0.26 billion in September.
Globally, India's smartphone exports also showed impressive growth, rising by 49.35% to $15.95 billion from April to October 2025, compared to $10.68 billion the previous year.
Growth remained robust throughout the period, with notable increases in May (66.54% to $2.96 billion), June (66.61% to $2.68 billion), and September (82.27% to $1.68 billion), highlighting India's expanding influence in global supply chains.
A report from the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) indicated that India's smartphone exports surpassed an estimated $1.8 billion in September, reflecting a remarkable year-on-year growth of over 95% compared to the same month last year.
Typically, August and September are low-export months for the mobile phone sector due to production adjustments and seasonal shipment cycles. Nevertheless, exports in September 2025 remained exceptionally strong, showcasing the robust ecosystem that has developed within the country, according to the report.
These impressive export figures highlight India's increasing competitiveness in global value chains.
