The Indian Junior Women’s Team has emerged victorious in the AHF Junior Asia Cup 2026, defeating the host nation, China, with a narrow 1-0 scoreline in a tense final held on Sunday. Sanika Chandrakant Mane's goal in the 17th minute was pivotal, allowing the defending champions to secure their third consecutive title in this tournament and ensuring their spot in the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup.

In light of this remarkable achievement, Hockey India has announced a reward of ₹3 lakh for each player and ₹1.5 lakh for every member of the support staff.

A Tightly Contested Final

The final match commenced with both teams exhibiting signs of tension. China controlled more of the ball and sought to apply pressure on India, yet the Indian squad maintained their composure, successfully navigating the initial phase without conceding. Despite China's territorial dominance, they failed to create significant scoring chances, leading to a goalless first quarter.

Mane's Decisive Goal

India capitalized on their opportunity early in the second quarter. Sanika Mane showcased her skill and awareness by slipping behind a Chinese defender, positioning herself just five meters from the goal. She deftly redirected a long pass into the circle, outsmarting goalkeeper Xu Mengjiao to score the opening goal.
