India's Concern Over Kidnapping Incident

On Wednesday, India voiced serious concerns regarding the abduction of three Indian citizens in Mali. This incident occurs as the country faces a resurgence of terrorist activities. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that these individuals were employed at the Diamond Cement Factory in Kayes and were taken during a coordinated armed assault on July 1.

Following the kidnapping, India called on the Malian government to implement "all necessary measures" to ensure the "safe and prompt release" of the abducted nationals. The MEA stated, "On July 1, armed assailants invaded the factory premises and forcibly took three Indian workers hostage."

While no group has claimed responsibility for this specific kidnapping, the terrorist organization Jamaat Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM), which has ties to al-Qaeda, has previously taken credit for multiple attacks in Mali on the same day.

The MEA has confirmed that the Indian Embassy in Bamako is actively coordinating with local authorities, security forces, and representatives from the Diamond Cement Factory. They are also maintaining regular communication with the families of the kidnapped individuals.

The Indian government has condemned this violent act and urged the Malian authorities to take swift action to secure the safe return of the abducted citizens. Furthermore, senior officials from the MEA are closely monitoring the situation and are engaged in efforts at various levels to facilitate the early release of the Indian nationals.

Additionally, the government has advised Indian nationals residing in Mali to exercise heightened caution, remain vigilant, and stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Bamako for updates and support.

The MEA reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safe return of the kidnapped individuals and pledged to provide all necessary assistance to their families.
