On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz engaged in delegation-level discussions at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Center in Gandhinagar. The focus of their talks was to enhance cooperation between India and Germany. This meeting aimed to review the progress of their 25-year-old strategic partnership and to advance collaboration across various sectors.

During the discussions, both leaders addressed key areas such as trade and investment, technology, education, skills development, and mobility. They also emphasized strengthening partnerships in critical fields like defense and security, science and research, green development, and fostering people-to-people connections.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi and Chancellor Merz attended the 'International Kite Festival' at the Sabarmati Riverfront, where they were greeted with traditional Gujarati scarves amidst a festive atmosphere. Artists from different regions of the state welcomed the German leader with folk dances and music. The two leaders enjoyed flying kites, with PM Modi seen flying a special kite bearing the message 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,' symbolizing India's belief in the world as one family. Many kites featured the Indian tricolor, Hindu deities, and designs representing both leaders. A large crowd gathered along the riverbank, waving Indian and German flags, symbolizing the deepening ties and growing partnership between the two nations. Additionally, both leaders visited the Sabarmati Ashram to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, viewing an exhibition showcasing his life and legacy, with the Chancellor also writing in the visitors' book. This meeting was seen as a significant step towards strengthening India-Germany relations and promoting cultural exchange.
