A Unique Celebration in Times Square

In a remarkable first, New York City's renowned Times Square Ball will descend on a date other than New Year's Eve, coinciding with the America250 festivities that commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. This significant event includes a series of eight ball drops occurring on July 3 and July 4, each signifying midnight in various U.S. time zones and territories as the nation welcomes Independence Day.

The celebrations kicked off at 10 AM Eastern on July 3, starting with the inaugural ball drop to mark midnight in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. The final drop is set for 6:45 AM ET on July 4, celebrating American Samoa.

The Constellation Ball, adorned with 5,280 Waterford crystals and LED light pucks, will shine brightly for this occasion. After the New Year's Eve event earlier this year, the Ball was re-lit in a patriotic red, white, and blue design, featuring the 'America250' theme alongside illuminated '2026' numbers.

As stated by America250, the countdown to the Fourth of July aims to unify Independence Day celebrations nationwide while emphasizing New York City's pivotal role in the semiquincentennial observance. Unlike the customary New Year's Eve gatherings, there will be no public festivities in the Times Square plazas this year. This decision was made to optimize police resource allocation and manage overtime expenses more effectively.
